We have received our " Certificate of Recognition" (COR) over 10 years ago. Our fulltime safety coordinator, Rod Anderson. has been the driver in continuously maintaining and improving our Health and Safety Program, which has resulted in regularly scoring well above 90% in external and internal audits of our program. We are members of the "Manufacturer's Health and Safety Association" (MHSA) and participate in the "Partnership in Injury Reduction" program. We are certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) following the CSA W47.1 and W59 standard. Metal-fab is a member of the Calgary Construction Industry and is one of the few Calgary steel fabricators to have been accepted to the prestigious Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC), which is THE leading steel organization in Canada.Health and Safety Policy
METAL-FAB and its owners are committed to a strong Health & Safety Program which is reflected in our company Health & Safety Policy.
Health and Safety Program
METAL-FAB’s safety program includes twelve categories covering all bases of our operations. Our program includes specific directives for safety policies, hazard assessment and controls, and basic safety rules for our staff. We also focus on workplace safety inspections of our shop and field sites. We investigate incidents and near misses whenever such events occur. The company compliments this with a full maintenance program of our tools and equipment.-
Safety/Quality
We also have an active health and safety committee that meets regularly to review all aspects of our safety program to ensure our high standards for safety are maintained. We also have directives for emergency planning, first-aid requirements and we maintain comprehensive statistics of our past safety performance. Training is the core of our safety program. All staff, including management and administration, receive training specific to their tasks. An extensive training matrix documents and coordinates current and future training requirements. Attributes of our quality program are also woven into our training matrix to ensure our people have the knowledge to do the job correctly the first time. Our commitment to training is outlined in our company Health & Safety Policy
Quality Program
Metal-Fab's Quality Control Plan is extensive and covers every aspect of our operations, starting with drafting, document control, shop quality inspections and field erection checklist both at different stages of production/installation. Metal-Fab carries the CISC Quality Certificate for Steel Building Structures and is one of only 5 steel companies in Alberta to have been certified to this high standard, and the only one in the Calgary area. Furthermore we work with independent third party inspectors on most larger size projects and are subject to random inspections by CWB. With these check's and balances in place you can be assured that your project will always meet and exceed your expectations, achieving the highest quality in the safest manner possible and on time.
