Metal-Fab has completed a 450,000 sq ft expansion to the Canadian Tire Distribution Centre in Calgary. This expansion brought the facility to approximately one million square feet and serves as the automated order-filling for all the stores across Western Canada.
Completed Phase I of this project in 2006. Phase II completed in 2007 and consists of a 28-storey building with 160 units. Both buildings are topped by Empire State-shaped metal roofs which were welded in our shop and delivered to site for installation by our field crew.
The Agrium Western Event Centre is the largest facility of its kind in Canada and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Stampede history.The new agricultural arena and exhibition hall stands on Stampede Park as one of the most unique agricultural showcases in the world; a centerpiece for agriculture education, exhibition and industry in southern Alberta; and a gathering place for both rural and urban communities.
The McCaig Tower located on the Foothills Medical Centre complex is the first phase of a major redevelopment envision of the existing hospital, which serves as part of the University of Calgary teaching facility. The West Tower consists of seven clinical floors plus a two story high penthouse.
Poppy Plaza is part of the second phase of the Landscape of Memory and is the first major public space node identified in the plan for the redevelopment of Memorial Drive. Phase Two of the project is the construction of Poppy Plaza located adjacent to the former Outdoor Resource Centre at 1111 Memorial Dr. N.W. (the old Fire Hall #6). The plaza commemorates Canada's efforts during wartime.
Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) named The Water Centre as the Award Winner for its architectural design in 2009. The Water Centre is “unique in terms of its shape and design.” This four-story office building has a complex design creating a curve in both the horizontal and vertical perspective designed in the shape of a wave. The Water Centre sets a new standard for environmentally sustainable construction and the first building in Alberta to be certified Gold by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. Metal-Fab Industries is proud to have supplied and installed the structural and miscellaneous steel for the Water Centre project.
This project consists of two towers. Phase One consists of a forty-three story east tower located on the east side connecting into the Plus 15 system through the Canterra Tower, as well as an underground parkade which includes four and half levels of parking over the entire city block. Phase Two consists of a smaller twenty-four story tower located on the west side.
